親愛的同學、家長們
Hello Parents & Students,

屬於春天的三月到了！白色城市的多倫多似乎忘了四季替換的程序，我們只有靜心期待並且常存一顆快樂的心，讓我們的內心都能四季如春般的溫暖、祥和！
Spring is just around the corner, almost time to take off the thick jackets and clean out the wardrobe for brighter colours. Although snow will cover the city for a while longer, we will wait patiently and keep each other warm with kind thoughts in our hearts.

在二月份裏，我們在學校、在班上渡過了一個歡喜、熱鬧的新春，我們剪了一個漂亮的『春』字也製作了『手指豬』迎接可愛的豬年。除此之外，我們還分組找出兩句很棒的靜思語：『皺眉和微笑都是一個動作表情，何不微笑？』 還有一句我們一起花了不少時間找出了正確的排列語法─ 『美滿的人生，不在物質、權勢、名利和地位，而在人與人之間的關愛和情誼』讓我們好好的把這兩句靜思語記在心裏，並實現在生活之中，我們一起努力並珍惜每一天吧！
In February, our school celebrated the Chinese New Year. We practiced the Chinese traditional paper art and fashioned the auspicious character 春 (spring) with scissors, and made origami piggy puppets in class. We also studied two Jing-Si Aphorisms through group work:

“A frown and a smile are each a simple expression, why choose a frown over a smile?” and “A fulfilling life is not preoccupied with material possessions, prestige and power, but filled with true friendship and care for each other.”

Hope you all will always remember and practice these two great aphorisms.

三月裏，我們學校也有一些特別的活動進行著：

1. 2007 第一屆人文親子營將在文化中心，三月十一日溫馨登場。
2. 春假(March Break) – 三月十一、十八日，停課兩週。
3. 三月二十四日返校當日，我們將舉行靜思語海報製作比賽。
4. 『2006-2007 慈濟多倫多人文學校十週年特刊』歡迎同學和家長投稿，與我們分享你對靜思語學習的想法或觀感，老師期待你們的佳作喔！

In March, there will be several new activities and events:

1. Education Camp 2007, the first of such events will be held on March 11 at TECC
2. March break is between March 11 and 18. Please return to school on March 24
3. The school will hold a Jing-Si Aphorism Poster Contest on March 24
4. For the 10th Anniversary School Journal, 2006-2007, you are invited to submit essays on any topic related to the school or the class; or commentaries on Jing-Si Aphorisms. I look forward to posting your masterpieces on both our blog and the school journal.

2007 Chinese New Year Celebration III

年菜站〈New Year pot-luck dishes〉陳列各式各樣的蔬菜、水果還有年糕等等，我一一解釋著每一樣蔬果在節慶中所代表的不同意義，同學們津津有味的品嘗同時也驚訝這其中所代表的文化內涵與傳承。(啊....不好意思！老師忘情於品嚐各式點心的美味，忘了照相存證耶！明年一定改進啦！^_^)

我們在師姐們的互道恭禧聲中接到一張精緻小巧的靜思語〈Jing-Si Aphorism〉字卡和裝滿祝福的福慧紅包〈Lucky Red pocket〉，最後大家還一起和財神爺在像機前留下快樂的鏡頭，我看見同學們臉上堆滿的笑容走回教室，意猶未盡。

民俗站〈Folk Custom〉的各項趣味活動包括中國結製作、應景的作品展示、踢毽子、丟沙包等等，著實令來自東南亞各地不同國家的同學們大開眼界，大家玩的盡興之餘並讚嘆中國人流傳至今的智慧與巧思！

第一站春聯〈Lucky Inscription〉的製作書寫，許君健老師把『感恩、知足、智慧、善解、包容、毅力、勇氣.....』等內容教同學們臨摹，看看他們手持毛筆的架式絲毫不馬虎的盡情揮灑在筆墨之間。

Speech/Story telling Contest 演講暨說故事比賽2007

Dear everyone,

I am very happy and proud to note the admirable efforts Amy, Vesakhac, Victor and Nancy Ong put in at the speech contest this morning. Congratulations to our candidates for their marvellous performance. Amy has won first place; Victor, second (with excellent presentation of both tonal and facial expressions); and Nancy, third. Well done.

Also, I would also like to make a special mention of Vesakhac 善美: We are very proud of him for the effort he had put in for the contest, and for the courage he showed the class for standing in front of the audience and confidently delivered his speech. Well done, Vesakhac. Bravo!

親愛的同學們

老師好開心知道我們班的同學乙珊、永耀、麗嫻和善美在今天校內的演講暨說故事比賽中都有精采獨特的表現喔！

感恩學校舉行這個有意義的活動使大家有機會從這當中獲得寶貴的經驗與心得，我想與你們分享的是大家往往只注意比賽的結果卻不經意的忘了練習期間的過程與心情，我看見大家在推選出比賽者後，再練習的過程中誠心的支持與建議都是給參加比賽的同學最好的鼓勵喔！

在我們的這片小園地裡，我想特別提出對永耀的歉意，因為想鼓勵新的同學多參與不同的比賽，我總是把永耀當作『秘密武器』─　就是說如果臨時有同學怯場或臨時缺席，我就會請永耀出來參賽。很感恩他的善解和機智反應，他總是像個大哥哥一樣的把機會先給其他人，於是今天早上臨時把他派上場，沒想到他的用心得到評審的特別讚許喔！

除此之外，老師還要特別提出對善美今天在校內比賽中勇敢參賽的肯定。老師好開心知道你和媽媽已經在比賽的前兩週就開始用心的擬稿、修稿和背稿，今天早上，老師看見你好勇敢的站在台前努力把自己知道的背誦出來，你的勇氣和信心，使老師想到靜思語中的一句話：信心、毅力、勇氣，則天下沒有不能完成的事！善美，你做到了喔！我們都以你為榮．．．．．

Here are some events I would like you to know that will take place in February:
老師想告知同學們在二月份學校將舉行的一些活動：

1. The story-telling contest I am going to ask you to do is on page A7 of the blue correspondence book(A) - "zui4 mei3 de5 xiao4 rong2" and we are glad to have Amy, Simon, Victor and Nancy to run the contest on Feburary 4, 2004.
二月四日學校將舉行演講/說故事比賽，我們班的主題是『最美的笑容』，當天我們將請乙珊、濟源、永耀和麗嫻參加比賽，我們一起為他們誠心加油打氣喔！

2. On Feburary 4 afternoon, Tzu-Chi foundation Toronto branch is going to hold a Chinese Year-end celebration and blessings in Taipei Culture and Economic Centre from 1:30-3:30pm, welcome to join us with your family and friends.
二月四日當天下午，慈濟多倫多支會將在台北經濟文化中心 1:30-3:30pm 舉行歲末祝福會，主題是『感恩、尊重、愛』- 心寬念纯 ，美善人生，歡迎你和家人一起共襄盛舉！

3. We will be celebrating Chinese New Year on February 18. Similar to last year, we will have various activities and introduce traditional customs to the students. Friends and family are welcome to join us for the occasion.
二月十八日當天是中國農曆新年，像去年一樣，學校將舉行各式各樣的春節名俗技藝活動，還有財神爺和舞龍舞獅與我們一起歡渡新年，記得請爸爸媽媽送你們來學校的同時，也留下來感受新年的快樂與祝福吧！

As the weather is getting colder, please take good care of yourself and the family.

老師在今天 ( 1 月7 日)的課堂上和學生們一起用新型卡紙設計出自己的靜思語筆記，看看同學們好認真的做著，漢文(Ian)、小玲(Nancy)和永耀(Victor) 互相討論說著:『我要把她做的很漂亮，然後放進自己的隨身包包裡，想到就可以拿出來讀一讀，還可以練習國語，這樣一定會進步的！』我聽了不禁莞爾一笑，便舉起相機按下快門，把握住當下的感動...

靜思語教學觀摩 Teaching Demonstration on January 14th, 2007

在此要特別感恩林校長、李師兄、張主任和錦芬老師的心情分享，你們的一言一句都是我們最珍貴的學習方向喔！

平日繁忙於工作的校長，在假日仍歡喜忙碌的為學校、為慈濟付出的喜悅，我想我們已從他臉上的笑容看見『歡喜付出』最好的答案…

今天早上的教學觀摩，我們好開心看見許多的老師和師兄師姐們與我們一起進行45分鐘的靜思語教學課程。看見同學們在體驗活動中精湛的演出，你們生動的傳達出慈濟人文的氣質和樂於助人的誠心，我們一起期勉自我『要過得忙忙碌碌，不要過得庸庸碌碌』。讓我們的生活有目的、有意義和希望！

『小樹啊！我要你成為一科頂天立地的大樹，我的希望和期盼也隨著它成長和堅韌…..』這是我們今天學習的手語課中的其中一句歌詞。看見同學們認真、專心的表情，我感動的想按下快門捕捉美好的鏡頭！

“Little tree! I wish you will become a big tree that stands solid on ground and touches sky, my wish and hope will grow and become strong with it…..” this is the lyrics from the song we learned in the sign language class today. I cannot help but catch the moment with all your happy smiles and expression in the class!! good shot?

White Boxing Day

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a good time giving and receiving season's greetings, and enjoyed a wonderful Christmas together with loved ones.

Snow came late this year but it arrived in fine style on Boxing Day in Ottawa, where we are vacationing with friends. It has covered all the eyes can see with a blanket of pristine whiteness. Now it feels like Christmas.

While we are basking in the warm glow of holiday wishes, here is a warm reminder to you that we will have a make-up class on January 7, 2007. I look forward to seeing all your well-rested, happy and eager faces again.

I have tried to call, and got through some of you this evening, to tell you that we have had to cancel the Chinese class on Sunday due to a burst water pipe at the school.

靜思語畫圖比賽 - 『盡本分、得本事！』

親愛的同學們

今天在學校舉行了靜思語的看圖作文比賽，老師好開心看見大家都很用心的在構思畫圖寫字。過程中，霜妮、永耀、昭盛和濟源共同構思作出了兩張傑作，看你們有的剪貼、有的塗顏色、有的負責整合在一起，忙碌中仍帶著微笑，老師看了好感動喔！繁騏本來嘟著嘴告訴老師他不會畫也不喜歡畫，於是我陪他坐在一起挑選了一句學過的靜思語，和他一起想想如何延伸出圖畫的意境，留下彩色筆給他，知道嗎？他最後還是畫出來了！
